Swag rap? To be honest, this mix goes against a lot of what I hold near and dear about hip-hop. I hate Soulja Boy. So maybe it was summer heat that made me find this music so infectious. Maybe it’s just something I’m up on for a few weeks. I dunno. But I found it interesting that while the West Coast was jerkin’, there was this catchy teenage singy-songy subgenre coming out of ATL. It caught my ear and had me singing along.

That’s the first half of the mix. The second is more anthemic Southern tracks. Were I one to say a song “goes” — that’s what I’d say about these tracks. They are definitely some amped up tracks. There are a few club mixed in along the way too … because, why not, everybody wants 20 dollars.

One more thing: I’m not a “DJ.” I have too much respectful for real DJs to call myself that. I’m just some dude with a bunch of MP3s and Cool Edit, so this is not pristinely put together. I do, however, think it’s a nice hour of music that (some) people might enjoy.
